7 Advent Calendars with a difference

Advent calendars with a difference have become a big thing recently, you might say they’ve become big business! I won’t lie and say I don’t love the traditional ones, even ones without chocolate (yes, I am one of those unusual people that can take or leave chocolate!). But, I see so many different ones, in my mailbox and on YouTube, that last year I succumbed.

I ended up getting the Aldi beauty one that had all manner of beauty products, all designed to give you more beautiful skin before the big day arrived. I have to admit, I didn’t manage to use the products every day, but I liked the idea!

So, here are 7 advent calendars that you might like and also a giveaway.

Oxfam Advent Calendar

Let’s start with a traditional one where the difference is…that it’s a charitable one. It’s the Oxfam advent calendar. If this time of year doesn’t have us all thinking about our blessings and those less fortunate, I don’t know when will.

It’s £3.99 and the one I’ve bought for myself this year.

The good news

According to the Oxfam website: “This item is produced from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified paper. This global certification scheme allows consumers to identify forest products from well-managed sites, and purchase with the confidence that they are contributing towards safeguarding these natural resources.”

Men’s Fragrance Advent Calendar

M&S never let me down and they’re there for the man in your life with their men’s fragrance advent calendar. Full to the brim with fragrances to have him smelling sweet and means that whichever man receives (or buys it), he doesn’t have to miss out on the beauty advent calendar trend.

And, to bring extra glad tidings, it’s cruelty-free!

This one counts down the traditional 12 days of Christmas and is currently £20 from £45.

Play-Doh Advent Calendar

Why give your child chocolate when you could give them (and not you) the joy of Play-doh (d’oh?!)! B has recently become quite the fan of Play-doh and he will absolutely love this one.

What do you get: “Behind each of the 24 doors there’s a different surprise, from a snowflake stamper to a tree mould. With a different surprise gift for each day leading up to the holiday, there’s no knowing what festive creations you’ll be able to shape for the season. Includes 24 surprises, play mat, and 5 cans of Play-Doh modelling compound”.

Currently available for £14.99.

Biscuit Advent Tin

Bicuiteers know how to take the biscuit when it comes to biscuits and chocolate and a whole host of other things (like personalised Christmas cakes). We reviewed one of the Biscuiteers Day of the Dead tins and they really are something special. From the tins themselves, to the packaging, and of course the beautifully hand made and decorated biscuits. I would definitely recommend you check out their site  (and their London shop) for gifts with a difference. Another great gift idea, or just something to do is one of their icing classes that I definitely want to get to in 2018.

Currently available for £48.00.

Don’t forget they have a huge range of bespoke gifts for every budget, too!

Eat Your Greens Advent Calendar

IWOOT are the queens of bespoke, quirky gifts and I always end up buying gifts from them every year. This Eat Your Greens calendar made me chuckle a little. I think the only way it will convince a certified sprouts hater to eat them is if you also intend to add chocolate to your sprouts on Christmas Day, too! But for a bit of fun, I think this is great!

Currently available for £17.99.

Gin Advent Calendar

If you’re planning on spending the festive season gin soaked, then why not have a dram for every day! This is one for a true gin fan (although there are cognac, whiskey, rum and vodka versions, too!).

It’s not cheap, but hey if you or someone you know says hurrah for gin, then this could be a winner.

Currently available for £94.99 or £119 for the Ginvent calendar.

One to open in the evenings when you aren’t intending to go anywhere, don’t drink and drive, folks!

Ciaté Mini Mani Month Advent Calendar

Finally, we have the Ciaté Mini Mani Month advent calendar. This one features “a huge selection of Ciaté’s chic shades, and includes 18 mini paint pots and 1 full size, including 4 new and exclusive colours! All of these come packaged in individual boxes.

Inside one box, you’ll also find a limited edition surprise product, alongside one mini treatment and 2 magic nail toppers, plus a sneak peek at one of Ciaté’s brand new nail care superhero products!”

It contains: 17x Mini Paint Pot (5ml) 2x Mini Treatment (5ml) 1x Topcoat (5ml) 2x Glitter Topper (5ml) 1x Nail File 1x Full Size Glitter (13.5ml).

So, you can paint your nails to your heart’s content every day of the festive season, and beyond!

Currently available for £50.

But, because we’re feeling festive and this month was our 2 year blog anniversary (and I was too busy to acknowledge it), we’re giving away one calendar to a lucky UK only entrant.
